Independent Concept Proposal by NEXKOOMSON. Independent architectural concept at proposal stage. Visuals are not final. Not an approved government project, and no site, funding or approval has been confirmed. Project status

The proposal in brief.#

NEXKOOMSON has published an independent concept for a Ghana National Stadium of about 80,000 seats, at the centre of a connected Ghana National Sports City.

The concept, called The Star at the Heart, combines two symbols. A five point star opening is cut into the roof, and a structural web inspired by Ananse surrounds it, extending in five arms that reach the ground and link the stadium to an academy, training pitches, a sports science centre, a museum, a hotel, a plaza and a transit hub.

The proposal includes a concept film, renders, a Sports City masterplan and a 14 sheet concept drawing set. It is ready for a government and investors to take up now. It is not a government project and has no site, funding or approval.

Names, status and figures.#

All figures are preliminary concept figures from the P01 drawing set and must be reported as such.

How to use these materials.#

  • Editorial use is permitted in news, features and commentary about the proposal, with the credit line above.
  • Do not present visualisations as photographs of a real or existing venue, or as evidence of construction.
  • Describe them as proposal stage visuals. They are not final designs and may change as the concept is refined.
  • Do not alter the images beyond cropping and resizing, and do not add official logos, government marks or sponsor branding.
  • Describe the status accurately: an independent concept proposal by NEXKOOMSON, not an approved government project.
  • Name the project correctly: Ghana National Stadium and Ghana National Sports City.
  • Film and soundtrack: the film uses the Ghana National Anthem. Broadcasters should confirm their own clearance for the recording before transmission.
  • Commercial or advertising use requires written permission from NEXKOOMSON.

From NEXKOOMSON.#

The Black Star has carried Ghana's name far beyond its borders. We asked what would happen if it could shape the architecture of a national sporting landmark, not simply decorate it.

This can start now. With the right government leading it and investors on board, Ghana can have a flagship stadium that draws the world to our country and our game.

NEXKOOMSON, November 2026

What people ask.#

Who proposed this?

NEXKOOMSON, an independent studio that ideates, conceptualises and visualises, originated the concept, the creative direction and the proposal. It was not commissioned by any client.

Will NEXKOOMSON build the stadium?

No. NEXKOOMSON is not a construction company. It ideates, conceptualises and visualises to bring visions to life. Any delivery would be led by the appropriate public bodies with qualified engineers, architects and contractors, and NEXKOOMSON can work alongside any of these partners.

Is the government involved?

No. No ministry, agency, federation or other public body has commissioned, endorsed, approved or funded the proposal. It is offered as a contribution to public discussion.

Where will it be built?

No site has been selected. The Sports City masterplan is illustrative. Choosing a site would be one of the first tasks of a feasibility study.

How much will it cost?

Nobody knows yet, and we will not publish a figure that has not been studied. Cost depends on the site, the engineering, the final brief and the funding model.

Is it being built?

No. Nothing has been approved, procured or started. The images are visualisations, not photographs.

What has actually been designed?

A concept: the architectural idea, a Sports City masterplan, a 14 sheet P01 concept drawing set, renders and a film. None of it has been engineered or submitted for approval.

What still needs to be verified?

Demand and capacity, the site, the roof structure, fire and crowd safety, athletics compliance, environmental and traffic impacts, energy performance, cost and the operating case.

Why 80,000 seats?

It is the design hypothesis for a national flagship able to host finals, ceremonies and major concerts. A demand study could recommend a different size or a phased approach.

Are these the final designs?

No. The renders, film and drawings are proposal stage material, made to show what is possible. Every part can be refined, and full state level visualisation and design would be developed once work formally begins.

How were the images made?

Under NEXKOOMSON's direction, using digital and AI assisted visualisation workflows. They illustrate design intent and are not technical documents.

How can people get involved?

Share the site, send feedback, or, for institutions and professionals, request the stakeholder dossier through the contact page.
